Artemis Cheung
Born in Hong Kong and based in Vancouver, Canada, Artemis Cheung is a composer and musician, currently studying Music + Sound at Simon Fraser University.
As a bassist, he takes from his greatest inspirations: Cliff Burton’s roaring solos and Les Claypool’s zany slap basslines. With his other influences including James Hetfield of Metallica, Freddie Mercury & Sir Brian May of Queen, and plenty of video game soundtracks (such as The King of Fighters series), he composes in genres ranging from pop to metal to marches, and anything in between.
His debut EP Capstone features tracks written during his last year of high school, which include “Gay For a Day” and “sum of small things”.
Outside of his own music, he’s the leader and guitarist of his own band, Luvtenant. On June 12, 2024, they released their debut track, “Erin & Arthur”.
During his days off, he spends his time playing mainly fighting games, and competes in tournaments once in a blue moon. You’ll find him commentating more often than competing, under the tag “Cheungsou”.
